After a Catskill high peak absolutely nothing hits the spot better. Great prices, friendly staff, a sunny natural wood dining area and well-cooked food. Not the fanciest place, but solid fair for hungry hikers. Hi top tables are available if you prefer not to sit in a booth.

Come here a lot. It's a def great spot to grab a good meal. We usually choose here when we are headed home. Great friendly staff. Good choice of food Large portions and cold drinks help round it all up. Stop in and enjoy it.

My husband and I go to Barnwood Restaurant often , we sit at the bar, because we like it there. The rest of the restaurant is very nice. Today we went I had a horseradish burger it was a special. It was delicious one of the best burgers I ever had. My husband had 4 pieces of fried chicken he really enjoys it, he has that often they also have drink specials and they have 26 beers on tap.. If you have never been there you should give them a try.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed Barnwood yet! I've been eating here for years and I can't think of one bad dish in all that time. Pizza and wings are just what you want. Sandwiches are large, tasty, and well priced. Fried chicken...my favorite thing on the menu! Entrees, sides, BBQ, it's all great! Dining in is a country diner vibe, nothing fancy, but just a nice spot to go and enjoy a meal. It's usually pretty packed so don't anticipate intimate conversation, it can get loud in there! Love this place as a local and if you're headed to the mountains for the weekend this should be your number one meal stop on the way! Can't say enough good things!

The pizza was delicious! The atmosphere, the waitresses, and the style of the restaurant was just what made it a perfect dive in restaurant for a quick bite. It reminded me of a cabin that you see in a Hallmark autumn love story.

Went for dinner and enjoyed the menu options and service. It's a bit tight with seating if you're more than 4 as we were. With the entrees you get side choices which is cool. I enjoyed my burger and macaroni salad as they tasted homemade and had nice flavor. Salads were fresh and had varied dressing choices. They have pizza on the menu but the 2 in our group that ordered that didn't really like it. So I would recommend not getting that.

The Good: Barnwood is a fine restaurant. They seem to know how to fry things, and fry them well. It's also pretty kid friendly, with a lot of options that would work for children, and someone was nice enough to bring us coloring books and crayons. I had the namesake burger, which was solid and tasty, if overcooked (I never got asked how I wanted it, to be fair). Two folks at our table had fried chicken, and thoroughly enjoyed it. My kids had chicken tenders and fries (shocker there), and enjoyed them. And we also got a couple of salads (one special with fried shrimp), which were just fine. This place is spacious, brightly lit, and one of the most accessible and affordable menus in the area. It's a huge selection of food, and there's something for everyone here. The Bad: It's not as enjoyable to visit, because they are criminally understaffed. From the moment we arrived, the waitstaff was noticeably harried, and in the weeds. The hostess ran us to our table, threw menus down and ran away. Our waitress would disappear for long periods of time, and would be unable to get us simple things (like water, a drink, or a check) because she was just running around too much. To be clear, I don't blame the staff a bit, they were simply overwhelmed by the number of customers they had, and from what I've been told, that's pretty much a regular occurence. If only management would help their staff out and put a couple more people on the floor. The Ugly: We got charged for two extra glasses of wine on the check. Normally I would've said something, but (1) we couldn't wait to leave any longer and (2) the meal was still super affordable, so we just let it go.

Barnwood has been our favorite place for years. The last two times have been so disappointing. The portions are noticeably smaller. Not worth driving from Kingston anymore! What a shame!

After a day of antiquing, we were just looking for a place with good comfort food. Let's just say we found it! Portions are ridiculously large and the price is on the sweet spot! We settled on pasta dishes. Thought we might have a few garlic knots to tired us over until dinner was served. Well, we did not expect ten or 12 garlic knots with a large sauce that tasted homemade. WE knewthat if this was the size of the appetizer, we were not going to finish everything. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. My husband and my bestie both got the mushroom ravioli in a vodka cream sauce. Omg!!! It was so good!! The meatballs were tender and spiced just right. The ravioli were heavenly. The service was fast and they were nice. They are ridiculously busy. However we did not have a long wait. Poor waitress was walking and talking fast. It was ok. I could see she had quite a few tables. But she was attentive and didn't forget a thing. We will definitely be back! Ps. Across the table, the gentleman had wings. Must have been two dozen on his plate. It looked so good. I will need to try that next!
